One of the Best Things to do in Boston, Massachusetts. The Best Way to Explore Boston Harbor and the Boston Harbor Islands.
Boston’s Best Cruises runs year-round Boston Harbor cruises, cruises to the Boston Harbor Islands and transportation to Logan Airport. Seasonally, Boston’s Best Cruises operates The Salem Ferry, the best whale watch in Boston and the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) Harbor Express. Meet our fleet.
T Harbor Express Water Shuttle – This service has been operated continuously by WTAI since 1996 and, to date, has safely transported more than 2,500,000 passengers across Boston Harbor. The service operates the most advanced ferries in the country, the Flying Cloud and Lightning. The vessels are handicap accessible and feature a smooth, high-speed ride by virtue of the catamaran hulls and water jet propulsion system. In 2002, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) purchased the vessels and the shore side infrastructure. WTAI operates the service under long-term contract with the MBTA.
Voyager III – The Voyager III is a high-speed catamaran whale watch vessel owned and operated by WTAI in conjunction with the famous New England Aquarium. As one of the oldest Whale Watch programs in the Country, the New England Aquarium Whale Watch offers a superior experience. Voyager III is the only Whale Watch vessel in Boston that is specifically designed for Whale Watching. The vessel has the most outside viewing area spread out over the decks and ample inside seating as well. There is an onboard concessions bar serving snacks, drinks and cocktails. Whale sightings are guaranteed!
Boston Harbor Islands – WTAI operates the ferry service to the Boston Harbor Islands National Park Area. In 2005, we completed the construction of two brand new high-speed catamarans, the Island Expedition and Island Discovery. These vessels cut the travel time from Boston to Georges Island and Spectacle Island to under 30 minutes, with departures every 30 minutes on peak season weekends! Their high-speed also makes them perfect for harbor cruises and sunset cruises which quickly travel to areas of the harbor unreachable by conventional ferries.
The Salem Ferry – WTAI and the City of Salem have partnered to launch high-speed ferry service between Blaney Street in Salem and Central Wharf in Boston. The City purchased the 92′ Nathanial Bowditch ferry which travels at 30 knots and makes the trip between Boston and Salem in approximately 45 minutes. Operated by WTAI, the ferry makes seven round trips per day and runs Memorial Day through Halloween.
Fort Lauderdale Water Taxi – WTAI purchased the Fort Lauderdale Water Taxi in 2007, and operates five vessels on a frequent schedule connecting 16 stops on the Intracoastal Waterway and New River in Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood. In addition to scheduled service, Water Taxi also operates day trips to South Beach and charter services. For more information, please visit www.watertaxi.com.
Charter Services – WTAI vessels are available for evening charters. The vessels are appropriate for corporate functions, fundraisers, family reunions, etc. Additionally, Voyager III, Island Expedition, and Island Discovery are available for off-season charter to other operators.
Consulting Services – WTAI has engaged in consulting work from Maine to the Gulf of Mexico. Of particular interest WTAI worked on the “Town of Scituate, Massachusetts – Ferry Feasibility Study”, “City of Pensacola, Florida – Ferry Feasibility Study”, Government of Bermuda – Dock System Engineering and Vessel Interface Design”, “State of Maine – Ferry Construction Cost Analysis”, “Massachusetts Port Authority – South Boston Water Sheet Study”.
