Boston from the Water with Boston’s Best Cruises

One of the Best Things to do in Boston Harbor. The Best Way to Explore Boston Harbor and the Boston Harbor Islands.

Boston’s Best Cruises runs year-round a series of Specialty Cruises. Seasonally, Boston’s Best Cruises operates the best whale watch in Boston, service to the Boston Harbor Islands, and sunset and harbor cruises. Boston’s Best Cruises is owned and operated by Water Transportation Alternatives, Inc. (WTA). Meet our fleet:

Voyager III – The Voyager III is a high-speed catamaran whale watch vessel owned and operated by Boston’s Best Cruises. Voyager III is the only Whale Watch vessel in Boston that is specifically designed for Whale Watching. The vessel has the most outside viewing area spread out over the decks and ample inside seating as well. There is an onboard concessions bar serving snacks, drinks and cocktails. Whale sightings are guaranteed!

Boston Harbor Islands – Boston’s Best Cruises operates the ferry service to the Boston Harbor Islands National Park Area. In 2005, we completed the construction of two brand new high-speed catamarans, the Island Expedition and Island Discovery. These vessels cruise Boston Harbor to Georges Island and Spectacle Island to under 30 minutes, with frequent daily departures. The stability and speed of these ferries also makes them perfect for harbor cruises and sunset cruises, where we cruise to areas of the harbor unreachable by conventional ferries.

Fort Lauderdale Water Taxi – WTA purchased the Fort Lauderdale Water Taxi in 2007, and operates five vessels on a frequent schedule connecting 16 stops on the Intracoastal Waterway and New River in Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood. In addition to scheduled service, Water Taxi also offers charter services. For more information, please visit

Charter Services – Boston’s Best Cruises ferries are available for evening charters. The boats are perfect for casual corporate functions, fundraisers, family reunions, etc. Additionally, Voyager III, Island Expedition, and Island Discovery are available for off-season charter to other operators.

Consulting Services – WTA has consulted with municipalities from Maine to the Gulf of Mexico. Of particular interest, WTA worked on the “Town of Scituate, Massachusetts – Ferry Feasibility Study”, “City of Pensacola, Florida – Ferry Feasibility Study”, “Government of Bermuda – Dock System Engineering and Vessel Interface Design”, “State of Maine – Ferry Construction Cost Analysis”, and “Massachusetts Port Authority – South Boston Water Sheet Study”.
